Meet Zoe

I believe all learners are capable of flourishing on their educational journey.

Having worked in numerous schools, I have seen how nurturing and targeted teaching can engage and inspire children. As a specialist additional learning needs teacher, I know that many children are struggling to access the curriculum and are feeling overloaded and overwhelmed. I aim to equip your child with a toolbox of skills and strategies, to help them better navigate the curriculum.

Helping children with diverse needs is my true passion, and I have been fortunate enough to engage in further teaching, research and staff presenting in areas of autism spectrum disorders, processing disorders, specific learning disorders in Literacy and Maths, cognitive disorders, ADD and ADHD. I have completed further training and practice in Literacy interventions such as MacQLit and the Write to Read Program.

I reside in Newton in Nottinghamshire with my delightful Scottish Terrier, Bobby! He often likes to sit in on sessions (if allowed) to offer a listening ear and supportive presence to my students. Outside of educating, I’m a keen home renovator and amateur stylist. I also love music, art, cooking and travel.

Self belief, perseverance and developing a growth mindset, are key cornerstones to success. High expectations, alongside explicit and nurturing teaching, help children on the path to autonomy. Helping a child to believe in themselves is the key to success.

Memberships

Hi, I’m Bobby

I am a 7 year old Scottish Terrier. I love living in Newton with my mum. My sister Willa lives just down the road with my grandma. My hobbies include fetching balls, begging for treats, running into the sea, and waiting for cuddles. My favourite places are the park and Doggy Daycare….where I hang out with my friends.

You will often find me relaxing in my bed at my grandmas, or at home snoozing on the sofa as I listen to soothing music. I am exceedingly calm and relaxed, and love listening to stories being read to me. I have visited school with my mum, and enjoyed all the kids stroking my fur. I am not much of a tail wagger, but I do flap my ears back when I’m happy, and am always willing to gently accept treats.

I know some kids may be scared of dogs, so I’m happy to go to my grandmas if they prefer.

Look forward to meeting you soon!

Zoe has made a very positive impact on Durston House School and it will be difficult to replace her. I have no hesitation in recommending her for any school she would like to work in.

Hilary Watt, Head of Pre-Prep, Durston House School

Zoe is a natural teacher and the boys respond to her well organised and stimulating lessons. She has very high expectations and the children are always engaged and excited about what they are doing. Not only is she an excellent classroom practitioner, she is also a skilled leader.

Ian Kendrick, Head of Durston House School, London

I really like when I'm in your classroom. My favourite thing in year one is when we do handwriting. You are the best teacher in the world.

Love Gillie (7)

Oscar doesn't want the year to end. He has grown up so much this year, and has been overwhelmingly engaged in everything you offer in class.

Bronwen & Richard

Zoe is an amazing teacher, who made every child feel like a champion. They knew she was never going to give up on them and used the power of connection and positivity until they became the best they could be. Zoe welcomed all students with her trademark huge smile.

Jen Righetti, Learning Services, St Michaels Grammar

We are very grateful to you for all the love and attention that you have given Stefan throughout the year. What a big difference this has made both to his confidence and in what he has been able to achieve. You tapped into his sensitivity and helped him grown into the confident person he is.
