All learners are special and unique, as are the sessions.
-My purpose is to develop an individualised education plan (IEP) to cater to your unique learning style and areas of development.
This may be specific to one curriculum area (spelling, for example) or may be broader in terms of scope, such as reading comprehension and written literacy difficulty. You may feel your child needs help to catch up on several curriculum areas, such as Maths and Literacy. We can then work on multi-stranded sessions.
Your child may have a specific learning disorder or disability, which impacts their ability to fully access the curriculum. We can work on prioritising areas of development, and make a goal-based plan to help them develop in both skill mastery and confidence. This may run independently or in parallel to your child’s school IEP/ILP.
Each session will be interactive, supportive, engaging and fun for your child, using a range of multi-sensory resources.
So what can be covered in the sessions?
■ Literacy acquisition; word, sentence and text level work
■ Phonemic awareness and development (early literacy intervention)
■ Reading development and intervention
■ Comprehension skills development
■ Spelling skills
■ Writing skills
■ Handwriting
■ Story writing/essay/creative writing
■ Numeracy intervention
■ Numeracy workshops/intensives in all areas of Maths (ie. multiplication/division/solving worded problems/ telling time/ place value/addition/subtraction)
■ Auditory/visual processing workshops
■ English as a second language
■ Adult learning support (Dyslexia and other learning differences)
If your child needs support in several curriculum areas, additional sessions may be able to be booked in.
How it Works
Getting Started
After meeting on the initial discussion, a trial session may be booked. This is a no-commitment session where we all meet to see if it is the “right fit”. I will spend an hour with your child getting to know them and undertaking some initial observations and discussions around their strengths and challenges.
If you decide to proceed, the ongoing sessions will be booked in. You may also provide any school reports and specialist reports for me to read.
TERM STRUCTURE
Sessions are offered in half-term blocks to ensure consistency and meaningful progress. Due to limited availability, places are secured with an upfront half-term commitment.
Consistency is important for progress. Full cancellation details can be found in the FAQs.
WEEKLY SESSIONS 1-10
All 50 minute teaching sessions with 10 minute parent feedback/handover time.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does my child always have to come after school?
No, many schools allow children to attend teaching sessions during the school day. In particular, if your child has a diagnosed learning disorder. This is similar to attending an OT or speech therapy session. Please discuss this with your child’s teacher/school. Often it is better for children to attend sessions earlier in the day, or over lunchtime when they are less fatigued.
My child already has an IEP, can we use that?
Do I have to commit to a whole term?
Following the trial session, sessions are booked in half-term blocks to ensure consistency and meaningful progress. If you choose not to continue into the next half term, just let me know ahead of time. Places are limited due to the small number of clients I work with.
Do you work with adult learners?
Yes. I support children, teenagers, and adult learners through personalised 1:1 sessions, both face-to-face in Nottinghamshire and internationally via Zoom.
Will you give regular feedback so I know how my child is progressing?
Yes, at the end of every session we will have 10 minutes to discuss how the session went. At the termly parent teacher conferences we will also look at your child’s education plan, discuss progress, and set further goals
Do you offer educational advisory services?
Yes. In addition to 1:1 teaching, I provide educational advisory support for families and adult learners seeking guidance around learning pathways, academic planning, and intervention strategies.
Do you support learners with dyslexia or specific learning challenges?
Yes. I provide targeted intervention for learners with dyslexia and other specific learning differences. Each Individual Education Plan is tailored to the learner’s strengths and areas for development.
Do you offer support for English as an Additional Language (EAL/ESL)?
Yes. I work with learners developing English as an additional language, focusing on literacy, comprehension, confidence, and academic progression.
Does my child need to bring anything to the sessions?
A bottle of water and a light healthy snack is recommended. No other equipment is needed unless they have particular pens and pencils they prefer. Sensory regulation toys are fine too.
My child is scared of dogs, is your dog always there?
Can we do online sessions?
Yes. Sessions are available both face to face in my home learning space and online via Zoom.
Face-to-face sessions allow for rich, multisensory engagement using a wide range of hands-on resources. Online sessions are structured, interactive, and carefully adapted to ensure the same level of focus and progress.
Are you insured?
Yes, myself and my premises are fully insured. I am also fully registered with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and Australian Tutoring Association (include Police WWCC) and DBS checked in the UK.
What is your cancellation policy?
To ensure fairness and consistency for all learners, 48 hours’ notice is required to reschedule a session. When notice is given, I will do my best to offer a make-up session within the same half term, depending on availability.
Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice, or non-attendance, are charged in full.
